I'm a student living in South Florida, soon to be starting college for either computer science or computer programming. The only linux distro I can stand to use anymore is gentoo, the rest are either too slow or give me too many problems. Gentoo is just right for me. I'm running a 2.6.17 kernel, configured to the max. The only modules my system uses are ones that I can't build directly into the kernel (nvidia and rt61). I have tweaked all settings I can find for maximum performance and lowest latency as a desktop/gaming system. My desktop environment of choice is KDE 3.5.5. I love programming, and have been learning a lot about UNIX style sockets recently. The most advanced thing I have done with UNIX sockets so far has been to program a time server. I would like to start learning the QT and KDE libraries, as they are my main target for software development.
