I just tested it on two different machines on amd64 - it is definitely not necessary to run the apache service as cups (at least 1.2.12) provides its own webserver. Furthermore, the apache server in its default config would listen to port 80 or 8080, and not to 631, so I don't see how this could ever have been necessary. CptNapalm 14:46, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
