Talk:TIP Integrate Thunderbird and Firefox

From Gentoo Linux Wiki

KDE and GNOME already have it set up. I'm running Xfce with fragments of GNOME and KDE and Firefox-Thunderbird integration is perfect.

Now I just have to find the time to cook up some XUL code to let me browse in the Thunderbird preview window when I want to.

[edit] Right place for the tb script

"Next make this file executable and place it in a decent place (I placed it as root in /usr/bin/ but am not sure this is the right place for this)."

It should be /usr/local/bin as /usr/bin is just for the distribution packages.

[edit] Actually, you don't need to exit the apps at all

In Firefox: go to the URL: about:config, right click and add new string. Then insert the key=values as before. They take effect right away.

In Thunderbird, go to Edit->prefs->advanced and click "config editor". Repeat.

I tested this in Fx 1.5 and Tbird 1.5. Hope that helps.

[edit] Clean up?

should we clean up this tip??

i think we should leave just the newest methods (they just work!!)
