I believe that in XGL/Troubleshooting#White screen bug on loading xgl, it is saying to downgrade, correct? The edit appeared on Sep 28, 2006, while the new version (1.4.8) appeared in portage on Sep 20, 2006. Is this correct? When trying to emerge xgl (xeffects version), it fails because of an error in the renderproto extension headers. Masking out renderproto does the trick: $ echo "x11-proto/renderproto-0.9.3" >> /etc/portage/package.mask
