[edit] 2008-06-10 Readded Official KDE Team Overlay

I've readded instructions for the official KDE Team overlay after they were removed. I've been unable to find a website for the Gentoo Experimental overlay, so have no information on who runs it. Please add summary comments for your edits in future!

I took the liberty of adding linebreaks to your addition.

Plus, is it just me or do you have to disable collision-protection on a lot of KDEEdu packages (FEATURES="-collision-protect" emerge -1av libkdeedu kig kpercentage klettres kturtle kiten kgeography step kalgebra kbruch blinken parley kalzium kanagram khangman kmplot kstars kwordquiz ktouch -- they are colliding on /usr/kde/4.1/share/apps/cmake/modules/FindKDEEdu.cmake and /usr/kde/4.1/share/apps/cmake/modules/FindMarbleWidget.cmake)?

Also, I had to manually first emerge -va qt and then emerge -va kde-meta several times due to unresolved dependencies (namely kdelibs kode ksystemlog kdesdk-strigi-analyzer kppp kopete krdc krfb kdnssd kdenetwork-filesharing knewsticker kget kdeaccounts-plugin kuiviewer kdesdk-scripts kstartperf kapptemplate umbrello kbugbuster kompare cervisia kcachegrind kdesdk-misc kdesdk-kioslaves lokalize knetworkconf kcron kuser failed the first time around, requiring a lot of emerge --skipfirsts, but installed when I then did a second/third emerge -av kde-meta)

[edit] Remove article

Please remove this article, it is seriouly outdated and doesn't actually contain any useful information anymore.

[edit] 2008-07-18 Repository doesn't work

Layman's "kde" repository just doesn't work. Layman says "Connection timed out: git://www2.mailstation.de/git/genkde4svn.git/".

[edit] 2008-07-31 layman defaults

What is the deal with layman defaults? I can't find anything that says /usr/portage/local has recently been changed to /usr/local/portage, in fact it's my understanding that /usr/portage/local became the default many many months, perhaps years, ago.

http://gentoo-wiki.com/Portage_Overlay_Listing#Layman says /usr/portage/local http://layman.sourceforge.net/ says /usr/portage/local

P.S. This is my first ever edit of any page on this wiki, I've no idea who changed anything.

As of today, the layman SVN repo has /usr/local/portage as the default. This has been the case since r21 (Jun 2nd 2008) Therefore that can safely be considered the current default.
The wiki page is a wiki page, and therefore most likely out-of-date by definition. I'm guessing no ones got round to updating the main layman website (which is understandable considering most people would just use the installed documentation / man pages anyhow).
