[edit] Deprecated mod_jk2
There is an ebuild for mod_jk2 for apache 2 at http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62598
Splitting this page (so mod_jk gets its own page) is a good idea.
[edit] mod_jk on PPC
Can you setup mod_jk on a PPC processor? If not, what alternatives are there?
[edit] Problem with JVM

This should be reflected somewhere here: When you have installed a new version of tomcat-5.5 with jdk1.5 you need to set the jvm by hand or switch to jdk1.5 by hand, if you first installed blackdown1.4.XXX
[edit] Do you really have to restart Tomcat?
I'm pretty sure you don't have to restart Tomcat after the mod_jk connector has been installed.
[edit] Something about logs
It would be good to mention where the log files are and what should go in there. In my situation, I'm trying to link Apache and mod_jk on one hand to Tomcat 6.0.10 on the other hand. The Tomcat 6 installation is not installed from portage, it's running as a regular user, and the control port is 7001 instead of the default 8009. I find it hard to debug why it's not working.
