First off, you are most likely having ACPI issues and framebuffer issues(if using the onboard card) while booting the LiveCD. At the prompt when booting the CD, type

   gentoo-nofb acpi=off

This disables ACPI and allows you to boot. Or you can also try

   gentoo-nofb pci=nommconf

I use this when booting my system but have not tried this with the LiveCD. This disables MMConfig. I am not sure what it is but I know it allows you to boot with ACPI support. Remember to add this to your kernel line in grub.conf

The onboard audio works with the Intel HD audio driver, in the kernel.
