Funambol

[edit] Introduction
Funambol offers calendar / contact / notes syncing between lots of different devices and programs. Funambol is most suited for syncing a large number of devices together, your syncing needs may be better served by OpenSync (HOWTO_sync_mobile_phone_with_Gentoo).
It isn't in portage yet, but there is a request in gentoo bugzilla for an ebuild.
Note this HOWTO is work in progress, and at the moment is just documentation of my attempts to get it to work.
[edit] Installation
You'll need to install Tomcat unless you want to use the distributed version of Tomcat that comes with Funambol.
Download PIM & Email Bundle for Linux from http://funambol.com/opensource/downloads.php
wget http://download.forge.objectweb.org/sync4j/funambol-<version number>.bin
sh funambol-<version number>.bin
Accept the license and start the server when prompted
Follow the installation and setup instructions in the installation manual (it's fairly comprehensive and obvious)
